Sophomore, Communications Studies Major at Montgomery College, GPA: 3.63 I graduated from High School with a diploma and valedictorian of the Class of 09 (Kingsway High School, Jamaica)in July 2009 after successfully completing the following classes: Information Technology (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access), Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Social Studies, English Language and Literature, Religious Education, and Math. I am Currently a student at Montgomery College (MC), Takoma Park/Silver Spring,(and Rockville) MD since January 2010. Relevant Courses that I have taken since i have been at MC are: Introduction to Human Communication (B), Elementary Algebra (A), Intermediate Algebra (A), Techniques of Reading and Writing I (A) Principles of Biology 1 (A) Principles of Chemistry 1 (A),Intro to Trigonometry (B) I have also been recently inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society as a reward of my cumulative GPA of 3.63 among other qualifications.
Experience
I am seeking to be a tutor because I enjoy working with people, especially in a mentor kind of role. T guess I got this from my experience as a Head of the Prefect Body at my high school in Jamiaca. A prefect, as the term is used to distinguish a certain set of students in the island of Jamaica as well as other Caribbean islands, is a senior student that has been selected to act as an "under Shepard" to the administrative staff by managing the student body in the general affairs of the class such as: attendance of the students in each homeroom class each day, monitoring behavior during non-class sessions, as well as many other duties. Generally I am Self motivated and eager to contribute service, both in and out of the work place; on and off the job. Extremely people oriented; I enjoy the company and interaction of others, and have a high interest in the welfare of others, especially those in need. Basic education and skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access. Prior administrative and customer service experience working with the Giant Food store in 2009 and volunteering with Washington Adventist Hospital in the emergency Department in that same year. Through these experiences I have learned to pay special attention to detail.
